About Us:
Here at Coffee and Clay we are just ordinary Christians who are actively trying to grow in holiness, journeying towards Christ, and have a love for coffee. We are not theologians, epic scholars, or considered extremely spiritually gifted. To sum it up, we are pretty ordinary guys who just enjoy coffee and are curious! Our main goal at Coffee and Clay is to showcase the humanity and diversity of the Church here on earth. We embrace the fact that God is the ultimate potter and we are his clay. Through that, we can hopefully have a deeper experience of Christ through our fellow brother and sisters. We aim to bring you a true geniune human experience rooted in Christ through story telling, conversations, and laughter while sharing a cup of joe. At Coffee and Clay we tend to be a little unfiltered and will not be perfect in any way, shape, or form. We invite you to journey with us! God Bless!
“Yet, LORD, you are our father; we are the clay and you our potter, we are all the work of your hand.” - Isaiah 64:7

The Church in her nature is both Divine and Human. Divine in the fact that she was instituted by Christ himself, but also guided and bestowed blessings/graces by the Holy Spirit. Human because she was built by human hands and is also comprised of faithful pilgrims. Since her inception, she has been able to grow and experience the nature of humanity through much beauty, but also darkness as a result of sin. After over 2,000 years the Holy Spirit has guided her to where she is today. Looking back, we are in such awe of the Church’s history. But at the same time, we looked at our current state of the world and especially in the church and saw a concerning amount of division and anger. Inspired by Saint John Paul the Second, we posed the question, how do we combat this division? That is where Coffee and Clay was born. Though we completely embrace the divine and human nature of the church, Coffee and Clay wants to highlight the humanity of the church. We want to do this by showcasing the stories and experiences of those who make up our mother Church. Through this, we hope to help people to grow in their relationship with Christ through others.

The purpose of Coffee and Clay is to expose our listeners to other Christians in the universal church. Many times, we get so focused and comfortable with our local groups, communities, and parishes. With that, it becomes easy to get tunnel vision and get in the mindset that our faith should only look a certain way. We want our listeners and readers to be able to get a small glimpse of how our faith is affected and/or plays a role in people’s lives who are in all different walks of life. In turn, we hope that it can expand their horizons, allow them to see our faith in a different light, and to grow in their own humanity.

In the spirit of Diversity, our show will be broken out into specific themes (i.e. Families, On The Front Lines, Immigrants Story, etc.). Each theme will be comprised of episodes where we will be interviewing those who we feel are a good representation of the theme. These interviews are formatted where we are having a genuine human conversation with our guests and meeting them where they are at. Again, our guests will have different life experiences and will be at different stages of their faith journey. We will try our best to be theologically sound and will be in constant consultation with those who are sound in theology and church doctrine, but please remember we are still human and won’t be perfect. Also, with the nature of this being an interview format the number of episodes per theme and timing of episode releases will fluctuate in the beginning.
